Dear Scouting brothers and sisters all over the world.
We are at the 22nd February and celebrating a special day. It is, among other things called Thinking day, Founders day, or B-P day, so what is this day?
This is the day we all, in different ways, pay tribute to the founder of the Boy Scout movement, Lord Baden-Powell and his wife Lady Olave Baden-Powell, who were both born on this day.
This day is the day when all Scouts around the world, regardless of nationality, or Scout Association, think about what it means to be a Scout and what values this entails.
Many of you will be unable to celebrate in the way you would like because of COVID restrictions but we can send messages to each other and we can stand together, to make tomorrow a better day for another human or animal.
If we all do this, then the world will become a better place for all and we will thereby pay tribute to our founder, who said “Try to leave this world a little better than you found it, and when your turn comes to die, you can die happy in feeling that at any rate, you have not wasted your time but have done your best.” – So do YOUR best today and take comfort from the fact that Scouts across the world will also be thinking of every other Scout in the world.
Happy Founders day to all.
Greetings from the World Council
